Most of the services mentioned in the subject line have NONE U.S. IP's blocked, this means when you try to get their service, a message pops up telling you that you are not in the U.S. and therefore out of luck.

I was interested in some different service and needed a U.S. IP myself, after some research online it became clear to me that a PC based U.S. IP would only do partially what I needed and definitely not work for all my external devices like GoogleTV, WDTV, Boxee and Dish receiver. I just don't want to watch HDTV on a small Laptop having a plasma TV and a nice home theater system with DTS, Dolby and THX.

The solution was a new router which I purchased in the U.S., modified the routers software, did some basic setup like username, password, domain name and purchase a U.S. IP for $ 55,- a year.

There it was, in a matter of minutes all my toys started functioning the way they supposed to do, just to mention a few like Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, NFL, NBA, MLB became fully functional and streaming in HD. Also the Dish Cinema and VOD started working right away, it goes without saying that using a router automatically puts all your Ethernet or wireless devices on a U.S.IP, which also gives you some protection and anonymity back lost by using Amnet, ICE and Racsa.

You still need a CR connection for the internet, but you pass right trough it and do your thing as if you are in the U.S.

We will be selling those pre-configured router here for only USD 199,- to everybody who is frustrated with regional restrictions living in Costa Rica !
